Artist Resource

by Dennis Haynes

With the internet being a wealth of art resources, I've still been asked from time to time where to find metal wheels or tissue fringe or miniature Victorian-inspired caste-iron feather tree stands....  I love the hunt for these kinds of things and I've developed a bit of a skill doing it.

At Halloween & Vine, we are working toward being more than our juried, high-end, Halloween collectible, one-day art show in Petaluma.  We are also committed to the success of our artists and being a resource for them.  Materials, branding ideas, social media, mentors, tutorials and classes are just a few of the things that artists need.

On an ongoing basis, I will be posting useful links to materials, supplies, interesting tidbits, etc.  If you run across a great website, send it my way.  I'll keep these in a file for reference.

None of these links are endorsed by H&V - they are just links we've found and want to share.

The first link that is a fun one to look at is "Beka".  It's a website of wood products - MADE IN THE USA.  (I particularly love that part!) www.bekainc.com

Another is Blumchen.  For those of you that like vintage-inspired creations, this is THE place for all your supplies.  They have German steifkantille (translated: real silver pipe cleaners), spun glass, vintage floral supplies, blown glass blank ornaments, glass glitter, dresdens, crepe paper and a bunch of other things that you could use.  It's a one-stop shop for all your Victorian/vintage inspired items.  www.blumchen.com
The last links for today are all about packaging.  Paper Mart and Premier Packaging have just about anything you could ever want for presentation and shipping of your creations.  It's always best to shop around for the best price, but I find these 2 places are pretty awesome.  Paper Mart has fantastic customer service and if you're in Southern California, you can pick up your stuff at Will Call.  They have everything in stock!

Any links you want to share, just send them to us at halloweenandvine@gmail.com.

Dennis
